Kent Prather of Prather Racing, Inc. — eight-time SCCA National Champion, with six titles in the iconic 1962 MGA and two more in a Mazda Miata. Now retired from customer engine work, the workshop in Wakarusa, Kansas still hums for vintage racing, consultation, and the family business.
Kent Prather has retired from customer engine restoration. Time is now well spent on personal cars and adventures — but the workshop hasn't gone quiet. The MGA that brought home six G Production National Championships continues in vintage racing, and the door at the Wakarusa shop is still open once a week to racers stopping by for advice, fellowship, and the occasional cold beverage.
For street car restorations, Kent recommends sourcing replacement parts from Moss Motors — a relationship dating back to 1975. For Mazda engines, Miata work, and rotary applications, the family business continues at Jesse Prather Motorsports.
Phone consultation remains open. If your MG racecar needs to go faster — or if you simply want to keep an old friend on the grid — the line is still picking up.
The same 1962 MGA has been on track every year since 1963. Since 1979 it has belonged to Kent Prather — and together they hold the SCCA all-time record for G Production National Championships.
Prather Racing has a large inventory of MG race parts for sale and knows where to source the best items to keep those racecars competitive.
