Prather Power Wins 10 of 13 Races To Open 2008
WAKARUSA, Kan. (June 2, 2008) -- Prather
Racing engines have powered drivers to 10 SCCA Club Racing National race
wins in 13 tries to open up the 2008 season. What makes the 77 percent
winning percentage all the more impressive is that Kent and Jesse Prather,
eight SCCA National Championships between them, have not added to the win
total…yet.
While not lacking in speed, Kent (F Production MGA)
and Jesse (E Production Mazda Miata) have both experienced doses of bad
racing luck in their transitions to new classes for 2008. Both look to the
June Sprints (June 21-22 at Road
America
) to score their first wins of 2008.
When the stars of a show are not at the front of the
stage, a good program relies on a strong supporting cast and Prather
Racing has it in spades—so good, in fact, that one of the supporting
cast members could become a star by season’s end at the Heartland Park
Topeka National Championship Runoffs.
Three drivers have scored F Production wins—
Eric Prill
(three in a Lotus Super Seven), Rick Harris (two in a Mazda Miata) and Bob
Bramlage (one in a Mazda Miata).
Charlie Clark
(E Production) has a pair of wins in his Prather Racing powered Mazda
RX-7, as does Bill Allman’s GT-2 RX-7.
A highlight of the season was a three-way battle for
the F Production and overall lead between Kent, Eric and Rick at Hallett.
Rick, who helped Jesse to his second-straight National Championship in
2007, came away with the win—his first in SCCA National competition.
As 2008 enters to the middle of the regular season,
Jesse will have a new powerplant under the hood and
Kent
will continue to get faster in FP trim. Stay tuned to pratherracing.com
for updates throughout the season as the team plans to send the Runoffs
off from Heartland Park Topeka with a pair of Runoffs Championships.
